SUMMARY

Eat, drink, and live your best

Good For: Someone who wants a better relationship with his/her food

What to Expect: Sensitivity results for over 90 foods and tips for how to adjust your diet accordingly

Value: Identify foods that may make you feel less-than-stellar

What will my results tell me?

Many times food can trigger an immune response which manifests itself in physical symptoms such as: headaches, acne, eczema, dry and itchy skin, food intolerance, bloating after eating, fatigue, gastrointestinal issues, joint pain, and migraines.

The results you receive from your blood sample will include a rating class that indicates your body’s sensitivity levels to each food, which can be used as guidance for an elimination plan. The higher the rating class, the more sensitive your body is to the food.

DNA results will provide key information about your specific genes associated with metabolism and absorption of certain foods, vitamins, and minerals, including dairy products, caffeine, B vitamins, and magnesium.

Next, EverlyWell will provide advice about what to do after you get your results. While reactivity does not always equate with symptoms, it can help you prioritize your diet changes.

WHAT MAKES EVERLYWELL DIFFERENT

Easy access is combined with powerful science

EverlyWell lets you take control of your health! With a simple at-home sample collection, EverlyWell gives you the power of strong science and the benefits of convenient lab testing. It’s more than test results, though—EverlyWell products also include detailed explanations of what your results mean, and offer insights on how you can take action to improve your wellness.

The science

Your sensitivity to different foods is largely influenced by preference, exposure, and immune responses, but genes do play a role. The genetic variants related to food sensitivities in this product are mostly connected to known biological processes, but some genetic variants have a currently unknown relationship to the body’s response to foods. Your DNA may identify a sensitivity, but your diet and preferences may make up for this sensitivity.

Impact

Some food sensitivities are largely influenced by genetics while others are only slightly influenced by genetics.

Limitations

  • This product will not provide any medical information or a diagnosis.
  • Results may be more accurate for individuals of certain genetic backgrounds.
  • Some of the genetic results are based on population-wide studies. What is true at a population level average may not be true at an individual level.
  • Our understanding of how genetics influences your food sensitivities will improve with more research.
  • Consult a physician or health care professional before making dietary changes.

How it works

Because this product includes a biomarker test, EverlyWell will provide a physician to review your health history to ensure it’s right for you. A physician will also review your biomarker results once they’re ready.

Questions

  • What genes does this product check?

This product checks MCM6, CYP1A2, ALPL, FUT2, and DCDC5. These genes are associated with a variety of effects on the metabolism and absorption of certain foods, vitamins, and minerals: dairy products, caffeine, iron, B Vitamins, and magnesium.

  • Which specific foods are tested?

EverlyWell’s Food Sensitivity+ kit tests for antibody reactivity levels to common foods and ingredients in the American diet, including:

Almond, Apple, Asparagus, Avocado, Banana, Barley, Basil, Bay Leaf, Bean, Green Bean, Lima, Beef, Blueberry, Bran, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cantaloupe, Carrot, Cashew, Cauliflower, Celery, Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Mozzarella, Chia, Chicken, Cinnamon, Clam, Cocoa, Coconut, Codfish, Coffee, Cola, Corn, Crab, Cucumber, Dill, Eggplant, Egg White, Egg Yolk, Garlic, Ginger, Gluten, Grape, Grapefruit, Haddock, Honey, Kale, Kelp, Lamb, Lemon, Lettuce, Lobster, Malt, Cow’s Milk, Mushrooms, Mustard, Oats, Olive, Green, White Onion, Orange, Oregano, Green Pea, Peach, Peanut, Pear, Bell Pepper, Black Pepper, Pineapple, Pork, Potato, Sweet Potato, White Rice, Brown Rice, Rye, Safflower, Salmon, Scallop, Seaweed, Sesame, Shrimp, Sole, Soybean, Spinach, Squash, Strawberry, Sunflower, Swordfish, Tarragon, Black Tea, Tomato, Tuna, Turkey, Walnut, Black, Watermelon, Wheat, Baker’s Yeast, Brewer’s Yeast, and Yogurt.

  • What is the difference between genetic testing and biomarker testing?

Genetic testing tells you how your body may or may not be programmed to function in specific ways, and is done through Helix via next-generation DNA sequencing and only needs to be done once. Biomarker testing will tell you the current biomarker levels in your body and can be done by EverlyWell however many times you’d like. Combining both of these types of insights will empower you to make decisions with as much information as possible.

  • What is the sample collection process for blood?

Collecting your blood sample using your EverlyWell test kit is simple to do at home. All you need to do is clean the finger from which you’ll get your blood sample, press a small lancet on your finger, and apply a few drops of your blood to the sample collection card.

  • Why test immune antibodies for Food Sensitivity?

There is a robust body of evidence to support the clinical benefits of eliminating immune antibodies (IgG) reactive foods from the diet. IgG food sensitivities have been implicated in migraine headaches and irritable bowel syndrome (alternating diarrhea and constipation). Bloating and indigestion are also common food sensitivity reactions, as is fatigue. Continued consumption of reactive foods may contribute to weight gain and/or difficulty losing weight. Eczema is also commonly associated with food reactions. Because IgG food reactions take hours or days to develop, this makes it difficult to determine which food is responsible for the reaction without doing testing. Furthermore, several research studies show benefits of performing food elimination diets based on what foods cause an IgG food reaction.

  • Can I choose my own physician to approve testing?

No. When you order Food Sensitivity+, you answer a few health history questions, and Helix automatically shares your answers with EverlyWell and a licensed physician in your state to make sure the Food Sensitivity+ biomarker kit is right for you.

  • Can I use my health insurance benefits to purchase this product?

Unfortunately, no. This is an at-home test that doesn’t require an office visit, and we cannot currently accept payment from insurance providers.

  • Will someone be available to help me understand my results?

In the uncommon case that there is an urgent issue with your results, the physician who reviews your results will reach out to you. However, for most cases, your results will be delivered to you online in an already easy-to-understand and intuitive format. If you’d like to share your results with your physician, you can easily do so when viewing your results on the EverlyWell website. We always encourage you to share your results with your physician if you have any specific questions or concerns.

  • Do I have to get sequenced and provide a blood sample to use this product?

Yes. In order to use Food Sensitivity+, you must provide a blood sample using the EverlyWell biomarker kit and a saliva sample using the Helix DNA kit.

  • How does Helix provide my DNA information to EverlyWell? Is it shared with anyone else?

Your DNA information is stored securely by Helix. When sequencing is complete, Helix only sends the relevant DNA information needed by EverlyWell to generate your results. We do not share your DNA information with anyone without your permission. We always maintain the highest standards when it comes to the security and privacy of your DNA information.

  • How do I learn more about how EverlyWell uses my information?

You can find learn more in the EverlyWell Privacy PolicyTerms of Service, and Product Consent.

  • How do I view my results?

EverlyWell will send you an email when your results are ready to be viewed online at everlywell.com.

  • How long does it take to get my results?

Your EverlyWell Food Sensitivity+ biomarker results will be available in 5 business days or less from the time your blood sample arrives at the lab. If you’re already sequenced by Helix, your DNA results will be available at the same time. If you haven’t yet been sequenced by Helix, your DNA results will be available 6-8 weeks after your saliva sample arrives at the lab.

  • Why would some results be more accurate for individuals of certain genetic ancestry?

Results in this product are based on scientific studies that looked at individuals of just one or only a few genetic ancestries. The same observations and associations have not been tested in people with other genetic ancestries, and may not be true for them.
